Brief Introduction of China Stage Art Academy

（1981.1---2005.2）

    Early in January 1981, China Stage Art Academy was established in Beijing and was called “the Center of Organization of International Stage Art of China（OISTAT）” by foreigners. And it belongs to the International Scholarly Organization of the Central Culture Department, registering with the approval of the Central Civil Administration Department (SZZ No.4258) which has been a scholarly center that holds national stage art operators together as well as a scholarly group which is widely concerned with for 25 years.

    There are about 3500 members in the Academy, which is the number of re-registration with 20 honor members abroad and group director units in addition.

    Every year, kinds of Academic activities, professional training classes and exhibitions are held, which mainly are: the first national stage art exhibition held in Beijing in 1982, “2000 Chinese Community Theater Vision Art Exhibition and Academic workshop” in Taiwan in 2000, “the Second Stage Art Exhibition of China” held in Nanjing in December, 2003 and “2004 Chinese Community Stage Art workshop and excellent stage art works exhibition” held in Hangzhou in September, 2004.

    Every year, “China Stage Art Academy Award” is selected; and excellent works and stage art founders are praised and introduced annually.

    The publication “the Stage Artist” edited and published by the Academy twice annually has become both an academic garden of theory research and a communication window. The large stage art painting album” the China Stage Art 1949-1982”,” the China Stage Art 1983-1999”,”the second stage art exhibition works collection of China” and more than ten kinds of related professional stage art painting albums and books have been published by the Academy.

    In 1984, with the authorization of vice premier Yao Yiling, our Academy participated in the OISTAT and had a wide communication, in 1994 presided over the International Stage Art Meeting participated by fourteen countries and regions and works invitation exhibits in Beijing, and has participated in the International Stage Art Exhibition of Prague (PQ exhibition) held once every four years in group five times etc.

    Our Academy has participated in the exhibitions of stage technology, light and sound held in Beijing and other regions, having an active communication with reference to technology, information and art.

    The first chairman of the Academy is Sun Haoran, the second and the third Xue Dianjie, the fourth and the fifth Liu Yuansheng, and the present (the sixth) Cai Tiliang. And at present in it, Academy office, creation research department, academic publishing department, organization liaison department, external communication department and such seven professional committees as traditional opera art, light, sound, scene technology, costume and dressing, television art, theater technology are set
